wine  The spectacular winding roads of the Great Eastern Drive will set the background for our Great Eastern Wine Tour and around each new corner lies a truly incredible winery or producer.
Many would say it is impossible to visit them all in a day and that is true. In fact there are several smaller vineyards that don’t offer tastings or cellar door sales at all, so it literally is impossible to visit them all.
With Taste Tasmania Tours you will visit more vineyards than any other tour and receive a far more personalised and VIP experience.

The tour starts in Hobart at 9am and by late morning you’ll be sitting by the water’s edge pairing freshly shucked oysters with a glass of crisp delicate Tasmanian sparkling wine from Iron House Vineyard.  Learn about this magical pairing and meet the owners of the boutique oyster farm.

Following our bubbles and bivalves breakfast the itinerary will vary from day to day.  Tasmania’s East Coast is peppered with many truly amazing vineyards, all stars in their own right and specialising in different varietals. Due to seasonal variations in their opening hours, conflicting schedules with private events like weddings, and in order to ensure we make the most of any special events and exclusive opportunities that are often made available to us, your guide will use their expert local knowledge to piece together the itinerary for the rest of the day.

We will visit at least one of the following incredible vineyards:

  • Gala Estate Spectacular multi-award winning vineyard steeped in incredible Tasmanian history
  • Devils Corner  Be amazed by the awe-inspiring views of the Freycinet Peninsula and Freycinet National Park (home to Wineglass Bay) as you sample these iconic Tasmanian wines
  • Milton Vineyard The Dunbabbin nameis iconic to Tasmanian farming history. Diversifying from sheep farming and delving into the world of vitoculture was the greatest decision Michael and Kerry ever made.
  • A selection of tiny producers who are rarely accessible to the public such as Boomer Creek Vineyard, and Kelvedon Estate.

Lunch will most typically be at Freycinet Vineyard. After tasting their stunning wines you can choose a glass of your favourite and enjoy it with your lunch. We’ll dine amongst the vines, indulging in a ‘Gourmet Plougman’s Lunch’ that showcases Tasmania’s gourmet cheeses, cured meats, fruit, dips and preserves (most dietary requirements can be catered for).

After lunch we visit our dear friends at Spring Vale Vineyard for yet another unforgettable wine tasting experience and a very special treat; a tasting tasting of both their Splendid Gin and Summer Cup Gin.

Lastly, but far from gastly, our beloved Craigie Knowe Vineyard. This little gem is hidden off the highway and has a fascinating history behind it, representative of Tasmania’s entire viticulture history. Listen and laugh with owners Glenn and Sandy as they share the tales of past and present whilst sampling their delicious wines, including their famous Cabernet Sauvignon.  The we combine two of the best things on the planet; wine and chocolate!  You choose a Craigie Knowe wine and let Sandy and Glenn serve up a selection of chocolates that have been purposely made to compliment your chosen wine.

The drive back to Hobart then commences and we all share a few laughs and highlights along the way, reminiscing of an amazing day that will be remembered by all for a lifetime. We get back to Hobart in time for dinner, maybe you’ll invite one of the new friends you made on tour? Be sure to ask your Guide for recommendations as they are born and bred Tasmanian’s who know the Hobart hospitality and entertainment scene intimately.
